Convenor – Maxim Vergeichik, Senior Nature Economist, UNDP

The absence of a harmonized biodiversity metric is commonly cited as a principal constraint limiting private sector investment in biodiversity credit projects worldwide. This panel will share views on how a harmonized metric is being developed which best aligns the needs of practical monitoring, external verification and investor confidence. Ensuring proper peer review of biodiversity uplift or avoided loss claims is a crucial part of developing a market. The panel will open up discussion on how institutions can better work together to apply a metric which can realise the potential of biodiversity credits for all stakeholders.
