Carbon and Biodiversity Credit Funding

  • Schedule
17 July 1400-1530, Jackson Lecture Theatre

Biodiversity credit methodologies

Chair: Tim Sunderland, Principal Specialist in Economic Innovation, Natural England

Panellists:

  • Joe Anderson, Biodiversity Crediting Project Officer, IUCN UK Peatland Programme

  • Sara Eppel, Nature & People Foundation

  • Dr Dan Exton, Wallacea Trust

  • Dr Paul Jepson, Head of Innovation, CreditNature

There are now over 30 different schemes worldwide for issuance of biodiversity credits, all of which employ different units of output which makes comparison between methods extremely problematic.

A number of bodies such as the Biodiversity Credit Alliance, International Advisory Panel on Biodiversity Credits and the World Economic Forum are working on solutions to simplify and regulate biodiversity credits.

This Panel will review progress in these areas, explore how the different methodologies work and examine strategies for encouraging market investment.
