Panel 4

Nature positive pledges: experiences from corporates

Convenor – Louis de Montpellier, Chairman, rePLANET

Panellists:

  • Tom Butterworth, Director and Head of Ecology and Biodiversity, WSP UK
  • Adele Cheli, Sustainability Strategy and Partnerships Senior Director, Glaxo Smith Kline
  • Danielle Mulder, BBC Group, Director of Sustainability

The Nature Positive Pledge adopted by a number of corporates is intended to encourage businesses to reduce their impacts on nature and biodiversity in a voluntary and co-ordinated manner. The Panel will take soundings from the corporate sector with a focus on how the Pledge mechanism has contributed towards this objective to date. In the absence of agreed biodiversity footprinting methods to establish impacts, the Panel will examine what claims are reasonable to make about biodiversity benefits obtained from corporate investments.
